Our Luna Bella bags are made from handwoven, recycled Mayan huipils that are usually 10-20 years old and sturdy leather.  These huipils (or blouses as we call them) are intricately detailed, take 2-3 months to weave, are all one of a kind, and often tell a story about the weaver and where she's from. Often weaving is the only skill these women possess and make very little money to support their families. We purchase these huipils directly from the women and turn them into bags giving them a sustainable income. All Luna Bella Bags have an adjustable strap, a jade medallion and a zippered pocket on the backside.
